Incidence and Morphometric Study of Humeral Septal Aperture in South Indian Population of Karnataka Region
نویسنده
چکیده
A thin plate of bone usually separates coronoid and olecranon fossa in the distal end of humerus. In some humerii this bony plate is perforated to form an aperture. This present study was conducted on 500 dried adult humerii. The incidence of septal aperture, its shape, transverse diameter and vertical diameter was measured. The septal aperture was found in 31% of humerii. The incidence was more common on left side (37.6%) as compared to right side (24.4%). The aperture was oval and round in shape, of which oval shape was more common. Mean transverse diameter of septal aperture was 4.55±2.39 mm on right side and 5.30±2.72 mm on left side. Mean vertical diameter of septal aperture was 3.29±1.57 mm on right side and 3.87±1.72 mm on left side. Translucency of bony septum was seen in 48.4% of humerii. The anatomical knowledge of septal aperture may be beneficial for anthropologists, orthopedic surgeons and radiologists.

Objective(s) The objective of this study was to document and explain bilateral differences in the Q angle. Materials and Methods Two hundred limbs of healthy adult Indian volunteers were studied. The Q angle was measured using a goniometric method with the subjects supine, quadriceps relaxed and lower limbs in neutral rotation. The relative lateral placement of the tibial tuberosity with res...

Background & Objective: Cytogenetic abnormalities in Multiple myeloma (MM) has emerged as the most important factor that determine the prognosis and survival. Fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) can detect a greater number of cytogenetic abnormalities as compared to conventional karyotyping and hence has become the standard test in determining genetic abnormalities in MM....
متن کاملHumeral septal aperture associated with supracondylar process: a case report and review of the literature.
The supracondylar process is usually a beak-like osseous prominence located at the anteromedial aspect of the distal portion of the humerus. It is usually asymptomatic but occasionally may compress underlying structures such as the median or ulnar nerve, the brachial artery or its branches. The term septal aperture defines an oval or round shaped bony defect of the septum that separates the ole...

Indian Ocean is known as a source of moisture for southeast of Iran due to summer precipitation. In this study, in order to investigate the role of SST of Indian Ocean, and the convergence and divergence fields in the precipitation of southeast of Iran, precipitation data of five synoptic stations were used during 2000-2010, including Iranshahr, Khash, ChahBahar, Zabul, and Saravan. To investig...
